Te Wahi Pounamu Hei Matau 60mm
Te Wahi Pounamu

The carver has cleverly used the green and white of the Pounamu in shaping this stunning Hei Matau.
Traditionally the main source of food for Māori was from the sea so a fishhook of high quality was a very valuable item. The hook became a symbol of prosperity, abundance, good health, power, authority and respect for the sea and the life within it. It also is said to bring good luck and safe travel across water.
Deane Moreton's family has been involved in the New Zealand greenstone industry since the early 1970's and Te Wahi Pounamu brings to fruition his vision of creating authentic pounamu pieces and providing the recipient with its history.
From the original stone from the West Coast of the South Island to a beautiful carving or piece of jewellery, Deane is committed to taking you on the journey the unique piece of pounamu has travelled on its way to you.
Approx 60mm x 35mm on blue-grey woven cord with brown wrap.
